GARDASIL® Vaccinations for HPV

A Lifetime of Prevention

The time is now. If you're a young woman - or the parent of one - the GARDASIL vaccination helps provide powerful protection against the four types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) responsible for 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts worldwide. However, GARDASIL works best when given before a woman has been exposed to HPV.

More than 30 types of HPV affect the genital area, some of which cause abnormal cervical cells, cervical cancer and other reproductive cancers, as well as genital warts. All types can cause abnormal Pap tests. And they are pervasive: it's estimated that 75% of Canadians will experience at least one HPV infection during their lifetime, especially woman between 15 and 29 years.

A Range of Protection.

GARDASIL is the only vaccine that may help guard against diseases that are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) Types 6, 11, 16, and 18:

• Cervical cancer
• Abnormal cervical cells - cervical abnormalities that can sometimes lead to cervical cancer
• Vaginal and vulvar cancers
• Abnormal vaginal and vulvar cells
• Genital warts

Be aware that GARDASIL doesn't eliminate the need for a Pap test. It's still important to have regular Pap test even after vaccination.

Like other vaccines, GARDASIL works to help prevent illness. GARDASIL works when given before there is any contact with HPV Types 6, 11, 16, and 18. That's why it's important to get yourself or your daughter vaccinated with GARDASIL now-not later.
