Viability Ultrasound

While not used for every pregnancy, early ultrasounds performed before the end of the first trimester are becoming more common. The viability ultrasound is carried out by an obstetrician-gynecologist at around 6 to 10 weeks of the pregnancy. Les Cours Medical Centre’s state-of-the-art viability ultrasounds are completely non-invasive, cause no discomfort and provide timely results.

The purposes of a viability ultrasound are to:

  • Verify pregnancy
  • Determine the due date of the baby
  • Identify single or multiple pregnancy
  • If there are symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, the ultrasound will confirm the location in the uterus
  • Investigate the viability of a pregnancy in case of possible miscarriage
